Ryan Lucas Brings Back That Great Hip Hop Sound

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman January 26, 2016 12:46 pm Tagged With: Hip Hop, Soul

I Want Her Back by Ryan Lucas

DC based artist Ryan Lucas has released his new album I Want Her Back and this record is exactly what Hip Hop needs.

Calling on his influences from an era when positivity shined on urban radio and MTV, Ryan has created a timeless Hip Hop album. It sounds great! It jams! Just turn it up and absorb it.

If A Tribe Called Quest merged with The Roots to create an album produced by N.E.R.D., it would sound like I Want Her Back.

There isn’t a track on the album I do not like. They all hit hard and sound great. Ryan’s songwriting ability is matched with some top shelf production to create something special.

Lucas released his first album in 2011. Following up with “Boy Meets Girl” under the name Kevin Live!, Lucas received great feedback and began growing an audience. In 2013, Ryan organized a band and the DC Gentlemen Band was born later evolving into a group of 4 including Kevin Live!, D2, Trevor and Jahrel.

Ryan’s next release was Next Chapter which he supported with a U.S. tour. In 2016 Lucas aims to peform in Africa, Europe, Asia and South America.
