Sara Nelms Says Lover, No Longer

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman May 3, 2013 6:20 am Tagged With: Country, Pop, singer, songwriter

Sara Nelms-Lover, No Longer Sara Nelms can sing!

She can write great songs as well.

Her new album Lover, No Longer hits you like the petals of a dandelion caught in the warm summer breeze. Silky, smooth, and comforting.

Balancing between the genres of country, pop, and folk, Sara is able to rock a coffee shop, a decent sized club, or a big festival stage all the same.

Currently in NYC, New York, Sara’s journey started down south. Raised in Florida, Ms. Nelms studied classical voice at Florida State and then migrated north to Nashville.

What happened in Nashville? She honed in on her songwriter powers.

from Sara’s bio:

During her time in Tennessee, in the endless sea of talented musicians, Sara learned the art and the love of songwriting. She sang in the honky tonks on Broadway, including the legendary Tootsies, sang backup in bands, recorded, and fronted her own band. It was a time of youthful exploration even in such a historically rich music scene.

After conquering songwriting in Nashville, Sara decided it was time to learn some guitar and stop relying on others to play, show up at performances, and the other nuances that come with managing a group of musicians….you know what I’m talking about.

Eventually she made her way to New York, her current headquarters, but she took a trip back to Florida (Sarasota) to record Lover, No Longer at Spirit Ranch Studios.

This album combines her newly found New York flavor with southern roots and her undying love for country music. Her classically trained voice and ability to control it so well inside a non-classical box allows her to easily stand out in the crowd.

She is planning to tour in August. You should go to her website or connect with her on Facebook or Twitter and try to catch one of those dates.

Lover, No Longer will be released on May 21, 2013.
