Patricia Bahia - Save Your Heart

With a voice as smooth as polished stone and a collection of frank, sparkling tunes in the vein of Aimee Mann, Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles, Bahia lives her bucket list and inspires others to do the same. Produced by Jon Hayes, Save Your Heart was mixed by legendary producer/engineer Bobby Owsinski (Neil Young, Willie Nelson) and mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Erick Labson (Joni Mitchell, Ryan Adams) at Universal Mastering Studios in Hollywood, CA. It will be released on DreamSongs Records on October 23, 2015.

A former jazz and gospel singer, Bahia started as a soloist with the acclaimed Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, where she recorded with Linda Ronstadt, performed with Joan Baez and opened for Bonnie Raitt. She discovered her bucket list desire to write songs during successful treatment for ovarian cancer 12 years ago.

Since then, Bahia has become a performing songwriter and frequent songwriting collaborator with artists and bands (Sleep Machine, MILCK, Alisha Zalkin), and has amassed several TV and film placements. Her sophomore solo effort is Save Your Heart, a 10-song LP combining elements of current pop and traditional singer-songwriter with hints of country and folk.

From the upbeat indie-pop tune “Good Day” to the life-affirming “Every Day Is A Gift” and “Uncharted” to the alt-country-tinged “The Bridge You Don’t Burn,” Save Your Heart showcases Bahia’s strength in transcending genre. The listener is guided effortlessly through lush landscapes of memorable melodies, vivid and significant lyrics, and modern yet timeless arrangements, all unified by the cohesive through-line of Bahia’s authorial voice and diamond-clear vocals. The record opens with the powerful song “Resilient,” inspired by teenage Pakastani activist Malala Yousafzai, who survived a Taliban assassination attempt and went on to receive the Nobel peace prize. “Whether you’ve been knocked down literally or figuratively,” says Bahia, “this song is a tribute to you and your resilience.”

“The healing power of music was a large part of my recovery and music continues to save my life everyday,” says Bahia. “I want to share that experience with as many people who need and want to hear it.” With a mission to spread love, healing, joy and peace through the power of words and music, Bahia is an inspiration for others to follow their dreams.

Note: “Every Day Is A Gift” was a winner in the 2015 Songs For Life songwriting contest and selected as the opening song on the contest’s compilation CD. Songs For Life is a music contest to support cancer research. For more information: http://songsforlife.org
