Scott Smith Is Igniting The Flame of Fun, Jammin’ Folk Rockin’ Blues On New Album

Scott Smith-Igniting The Flame

Scott Smith has delivered an Americana, folky, blues-rockin’ great time on his new album Igniting The Flame.

The opening Drop Kick It introduces us to Scott’s aurally stimulating barrage of sweet guitars, swingin’ horns, foot stompin’ rhythms and a story about letting go of that bad day you just experienced.

Igniting The Flames blasts off with distorted guitars, an upbeat rhythm, gritty but soulful background vocals and enough jam to keep your body rockin’ nonstop. When that fiddle kicks in for the solo, buckle up!

It’s obvious by now Scott Smith has arrived to infect our bodies with upbeat music despite any and all downers that might be attached to his lyrical substance.

My Soul To Keep spices things up with a tropical aesthetic and some sweet sounding horns. Another infectious jam, I am starting to picture in my mind how much fun Scott is having while recording each of these well crafted songs.

Bulls Eye To My Heart keeps us engaged with the classic cow bell, a head noddin’ foot stompin’ groove, and a rock edge which forms the foundation for this story about falling hard for a special someone. The guitar solo around 1:40 sounds excellent and will immediately have you grabbing your air guitar to play along.

Rolling Home introduces us to some bluesy vibes with an attention grabbing organ, a swaying groove, and some superb vocal harmony. This is the most traditional sounding blues song on the record and is the perfect soundtrack for rolling home.

Closing out this fun and rawkus jam session is the aggressive, distorted, hard rockin’ sonic assault titled Eating Like Hippies (which is about eating like a hippy).

Scott Smith’s ability to create fun, engaging jams is undeniable.

Joining him on Igniting The Flame includes talented creatives Spencer Burroughs (keyboards), Vickie Randall (veteran of the “Tonight Show” and Mavis Staples backup singer), Mike Rinta (trombonist and horn arranger) and Paul Branin (saxophone, worked with Levon Helm). Julie Wolf, who has worked with Bruce Cockburn and Ani DiFranco, helped produced the album at the legendary Fantasy Studios in Berkeley (where CCR and Santana among other legends have recorded).

Igniting The Flame is available for listening on Soundcloud.
