Sound Therapy’s Fourth Anniversary Brought The Best Poets and Hip Hop Artists

by Tisha Emberton September 12, 2012 3:05 pm Tagged With: Hip Hop, Poetry, R&B, Soul, Spoken Word

Aubrey drives the ladies crazyDee Jay Magnetic smoothed the fever of the rush as talented young voices joined the fourth anniversary of Sound Therapy including Hip Hop, R & B and Spoken Word Poets at The Sports Page in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I booked Friday to be a night to bring some of the artists, that have been with us since the beginning, paired with some of the best artists from this year.” – Dee Jay Magnetic said. Some notable performances include Vyrgo, B.C. aka Brad Cooper, K-Free & The Definition of Sound, Squikee Diesel, Blok Bruhvahz, (N.B.O.), Prophicy, Aubrey The Poet, Poet Ron Kennedy, Poetess Silvia Pagano Lewis, Poet of the Angels, Fatcat, Silence, Destini Winters, Steph Aniek, Mizz L Tha Storytella, ShoutzP, E.N.D., Jack Prophet, Jakeata Conyers and SinSeven.

“It felt like a family reunion.” said Mizz L Tha Storytella aka Lauren Stephens.

Poet of the Angels started the night off with a poem during open mic; BLOK BRUVAHZ (N.B.O.) warmed the crowd up for what proved to be an outstanding night of diverse performers to follow. Squikee Diesel and Destini Winters really showed women can set the bar for talent.

Aubrey The Poet performed two erotic poems and his poetic masterpiece, “Die Out Loud”. Aubrey The Poet tore the women up with his erotica rewind.

Poet/Hip Hop artist SinSeven from Cookeville, TN joined guitarist Stephen James. Poet Jakeata Conyers joined among some of the most elite poets like Ron Kennedy, Silvia Pagano Lewis, Mizz L Tha Storytella and many more. Hip Hop artist B.C. aka Brad Cooper from Columbia, Tennessee brought fire to the stage when he showcased raw, pure talent.

Ron KennedySome participants drove from far distances to pay tribute and perform during Sound Therapy. Spoken Word Poet Ron Kennedy drove from nearly 3 hours away. Passion for the arts drives poets and musicians to drive great distances to paint the world with their sounds, words and colorful spirits like winds of courage that bring soldiers to war.

Dee Jay Magnetic says Sound Therapy is making a comeback with a renewed focus. “The Future for Sound Therapy involves focusing more on the most versatile and purely talented artists. More Mature Crowd. More about the artform and culture. We’ve already started the first part with 45’s Live/MED. Sound Therapy will have more of an intimate vibe”.

Sound Therapy Dee Jays (A-7, Magnetic, Stones and Tron) are bringing vinyl preservation and Hip Hop, Acid Jazz, Funk, Dub, Rocksteady and Rock Breaks to Mediterranean Cuisine 1602 21ST Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37212 every Saturday night in the upstairs from Pizza Perfect starting September 15 from 8 pm – 1 am.
