In this interview, we chat with Starley about influences, the new project, and more.

Q&A, links, and a stream of Call On Me below.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?

I’ve never restricted myself to a particular genre as an artist. This record (call on me) is a fusion of things and I guess that why I felt it worked in the end.

How long have you been creating and sharing your music with the public?

I’ve been creating music since I was a kid. Sharing it with the public since less than a year ago now.

Who or what influences your playing and/or writing? Also, what motivates you to keep going?

A lot of people. Really I’ll take an album or song that I’m currently into and just listen to it on repeat a million times until I’ve fully absorbed it.

Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?

I’m still in the process of creating my album. But as for my first single I’m all about staying true to who I am and allowing my raw energy to come through on each song.

What was the last song you listened to?

Probably something of Drakes on the radio.. haha But I’m desperately trying to set some time aside to listen to Frank Ocean’s album in depth.

Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?

Mp3’s

How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?

Hmm.. I use all of them haha.

Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?

Well, I’m only just starting… And the first song has been receiving a lot of love, so I don’t know yet, but I’ll let you know!

Do you gig, tour or perform? Do you ever live stream? Where can music lovers see you live?

Not yet.. I’m currently in the process of putting my band together so I can start doing shows…

Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?
