Merlot Embargo will at once bring you both whimsy and angst with Don’t Look Back, their debut release.  A collection of indie-rock anthems, swampy stomp grooves and glowing string harmonies, it explores both the serious and the silly, from a child’s imagination to being comfortable with one’s own eccentricities. Gringo Star Interview – The Sides And In Between

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 19, 2016 5:59 pm Tagged With: Alternative, indie rock, Psychedelic, Rock

Gringo Star are insouciant explorers, tossing the paddles overboard and drifting on the currents of their lackadaisical curiosity across a rippling sonic ocean, out to the far edges of rock & roll. Shots pulsing from a vintage Leslie speaker, their guitars, keys and vocals create the psychoactive ingredients of their echo-slathered, doo-wop-indebted indie gems; psychedelic […]

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman September 15, 2016 7:14 pm Tagged With: Folk, Pop, Rock, singer, songwriter

Chris and Daya-Envy of Stars

Chris and Daya’s album Envy of Stars is smooth like butter, tasty like grandma’s finest jam, and more polished than a freshly shined pair of Sunday shoes. I’ve been trying to listen to this album front to back (without distraction) for a couple weeks now and finally…finally that uninterrupted piece of time came. The result? […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
