How to describe Dutch Criminal Record… well. In effect they consist of one mad drummer who’s beats are funkier than James Brown and so syncopated they end up on the beat again. This man is simply known as Whibs-the great! Then there is the tall dark and annoyingly handsome Rio, whose bass is almost as […]

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 18, 2016 6:34 am Tagged With: Alternative, Oklahoma, Rock, United States

The Bourgeois are an alternative rock band from Tulsa, OK.  Musically, the band draws inspiration from a wide variety of artists; the sonic rush of Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins, the disenfranchised melodicism of indie rock stalwarts like The Smiths and Violent Femmes, and a dash of aural post-punk weirdness, a la The Talking Heads and […]

Interview with Daniel Amedee – Life

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman August 18, 2016 6:27 am Tagged With: Folk, New Orleans, Rock, singer, songwriter

Daniel Amedee is living proof that a musician can be from New Orleans, but not necessarily be of New Orleans, a distinction that courses through his quirky, eccentric songwriting style, informed by a haunting bluesy vocalese that scratches the soul somewhere between Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart, and certainly belies Daniel’s 29 years. As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
