John Parry-Good Grief

Having previously been preoccupied with depression & doubt, fuelled by a hedonistic and self-destructive lifestyle, 24 year old artist John Parry has now embraced sobriety to help inspire dialogue between people and their loved ones, now turning his attention to the devastation that grief causes.  His upcoming release ‘Good Grief’ touches upon a universal experience, […]

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman January 10, 2022 11:03 am Tagged With: Colorado, Pop, R&B, singer, songwriter, United States

Aidel Mitchell-Focus On Me

After a summer of teasing new music on festival stages (Westword Music Showcase; Underground Music Festival), Adiel Mitchell follows through with his third single of 2021, “Focus On Me”. This new ear confection is a sexy, moody tune that tells a story of the ebbs and flows between steamy thoughts and healthy communication in a […]

JC Miller

Singer- songwriter JC Miller’s music is a bid to reconcile his own identity through American music. Cut off from his Southern roots (from Louisiana to Texas to Mississippi to Florida), JC Miller’s music represents a journey of self-discovery — an inward quest for an American voice, spirit, and soul.  In this interview spotlight, I chat […]

Interview with Helen Murray – Move Me

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman January 6, 2022 12:15 pm Tagged With: Alternative, Ireland, R&B, singer, songwriter, Soul, United Kingdom

Helen Murray-Move Me

Helen Murray’s alluring vocals, authentic lyrics and upbeat rhythms create a strange dichotomy within her music. A clash between emotionally driven lyrics and uplifting beats. Evoking feelings of self-confidence and self-acceptance while also confronting the negative thinking that comes with personal growth. A perfect balance of confidence and insecurity.  In this interview spotlight, I chat […]

Interview with Joe Tilston – Tightrope

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman January 4, 2022 10:53 am Tagged With: Folk, folk rock, indie folk, indie rock, Pop, Rock, singer, songwriter, United Kingdom

Joe Tilston-Tightrope

Joe Tilston has a punk heart, but his music has a different heartbeat. It’s Folkish, it’s beautiful, and at times cutting and direct. Tightrope is full of songs of Death & Hope, and is unashamed to bare all. The music takes influence from a childhood brought up in smokey, beer swilled folk clubs, where his […]

Interview with Kiera Lyons – Lock The Door and Throw Away the Key

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman January 4, 2022 9:51 am Tagged With: alt-pop, art rock, California, electronica, indie folk, indie pop, Los Angeles, singer, songwriter, United States

Kiera Lyons

Kiera Lyons is an antidote to the endless stream of sameness we hear from singers today. She is the voice of her generation’s future, not its past. Digging deeper than the plastic party pop blanketing the airwaves and streamers, her lyrics grapple with our youth’s bitter burden: a world of decay, anxiety and depression, of […]

Interview with Robin and The Goblins – Future Angel

Robin and the Goblins

Spanish artist Robin and The Goblins – aka Robin Romo – has released their atmospheric new single Future Angel. Combining baroque-pop and synth-infused sensibilities, Future Angel is oozing with ambience from the offset, sounding akin to the likes of Cat Power and Patrick Wolf as a result. Tragic and playful, Romo blends medieval imagery with […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
