Ben Killen’s “Singing River Blues” – A Soulful Debut That Honors the Past While Forging a Bold New Path

by Leslie Sherman January 21, 2025 10:35 am Tagged With: singer, songwriter, United States

With his debut solo single “Singing River Blues”, Ben Killen steps into the spotlight with a song that is both deeply personal and current.

The song takes the raw, heartfelt tradition of the blues together with the expansive storytelling of Americana. Here, Killen delivers something of an instant classic as it carries the weight of history while carving out its own unique space in today’s music landscape.

Singing River Blues is a song about loss, grief, and the unbreakable bonds of family. Inspired by a painful chapter in Killen’s life, the sudden passing of his father and grandmother in 2012, this song is more than a lament. It is more of a direct tribute, a meditation, and a testament to the healing power of music.

There’s something about Brooks John Martin’s new single “Clear Blue Waters” that hits a little deeper right now.

Maybe it’s the haunting stillness of the song, or the way it feels like a quiet reprieve from the chaos.

it couldn’t have come at a more poignant moment, especially in the wake of California’s recent wildfires. The song itself, gentle and introspective, now finds an even more profound dimension with the release of its accompanying music video, filmed along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway.

by Leslie Sherman January 15, 2025 6:32 am Tagged With: 2025, indie rock, new music, New Single, Pop, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

Andrew Stonehome’s latest single, “Then You Fly,” is a deeply personal and beautifully crafted song that feels both timeless and achingly relevant.

The song is written as a letter to his inner child, and it unpacks the complicated process of facing old wounds and re-discovering a part of himself that he’d hidden away for years. It is as much about healing as it is about courage, and the strength that is found in confronting what scares us the most.

by Leslie Sherman January 13, 2025 1:58 am Tagged With: 2025, new music, New Single, Pop, singer, songwriter, United States

Eli Golden’s latest single, “Home to You,” is a shining example of how music can turn even life’s most frustrating moments into something joyful and uplifting.

Inspired by a very real 10-hour delay at the Raleigh-Durham airport, Golden takes listeners on a relatable journey filled with missed weddings, stale potato chip dinners, and the deep yearning to return to the people we hold dear. Eli’s knack for finding humor and heart in convenient situations, and an ability to translate life’s curveballs into something relatable to all.

Nicki Richards’s latest single, “You Become More Beautiful” is a stunning R&B slow jam that arrived just in time for the holiday season and the New Year.

With its rich, soulful arrangement this track exudes the kind of warmth, intimacy, and elegance that wraps the listener up in a cocoon of joy and reflection.

The inspiration behind the song is beautifully simple yet profound. Nicki found herself cruising through the sunlit streets of Florida with her mother one day, basking in the warmth of the sun’s rays and feeling the deep blessings of the moment.

Julie Haven’s “Between the Lies” – A Haunting Anthem of Resilience and Truth

by Leslie Sherman January 8, 2025 3:30 am Tagged With: Folk, indie rock, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

Julie Haven’s “Between the Lies” is a gut-wrenching, no-holds-barred dive into the pain and confusion of emotional abuse.

It’s a deeply personal story about losing yourself in a toxic relationship and fighting to find your way back. With its raw lyrics and haunting piano melody, Haven captures what it feels like to be broken down and made to question your own worth, all while clinging to the hope that you’re more than the lies you’ve been told.

“Deep in the Bayou” – The Holiday Ramblers’ Uncharted Journey

by Leslie Sherman December 20, 2024 3:01 pm Tagged With: 2024, Folk, indie, New Single, Rock, singer, songwriter, United States

The Holiday Ramblers’ latest single “Deep in the Bayou” feels like stepping into a forgotten world where shadows stretch long and the air is thick with untold stories. Released today, their new single is an evocative journey beckoning you to wander through its winding paths to embrace the unknown.

Rooted in history, “Deep in the Bayou” was first written by Wil Medica in 1998 during the A Stillwater Satellite era.

Re-arranged some 15 years ago by Timothy Gannon, the song remained something of a dormant treasure – unrecorded, unperformed, and waiting for the right moment. That moment has finally come, with The Holiday Ramblers breathing life into it with their signature sound, transforming it into a rich, haunting narrative.
