Released at the end of September, Tumble Home is the kind of album that feels like it’s been quietly waiting for the right moment to arrive.
Singer songwriter Molly Thomas delivers a record that is very much an emotional landscape mapped out with honesty, grace and hard won perspective.
The record opens with “Even the Strong,” a luminous first single that set the tone for the album’s release.
With its restrained instrumentation and raw, steady vocals, this song captures the quiet ache of resilience, the moment when the person who always holds it together finally lets themselves release. There is humility here and a reminder that strength is not about breaking but about learning how to rebuild.
Musically, the album has variety and cohesion, shifting gracefully through sonic moods. The sweeping orchestral grandeur of “1839” gives way to the rock and roll urgency of “Sorry”, while the Carole King-esque warmth of “Now That You’re Here” and the dreamy folk delicacy of “Tender Girl” show her gift for nuance and intimacy. “Crash” rounds things out with widescreen acoustic pop that manages to feel both anthemic and also personal. Throughout it all, Thomas’s voice remains the radiant anchor, expressive and commanding.
And for all its musical richness, Tumble Home truly reveals itself in its lyrics. These are songs born of reflection, stories drawn from experience, from quiet revelations and hard earned grace. They are deeply personal, the kind of songs that make you pause and think, yes, I’ve felt that too.
“Making this album challenged everything I thought I knew about myself as an artist,” says Thomas. “It required patience, trust, and the kind of resilience that doesn’t come with noise or bravado. It’s quiet. It’s persistent. And it’s supported by love, by community, by music itself.”
There’s a palpable connection between the natural world and the inner one here, a recognition that where we stand often determines how we heal. Tumble Home is one of those rare albums that rewards every listen with deeper understanding. It’s beautifully written, beautifully sung, and beautifully real.
