Thinkin About You (Frank Ocean Cover) by Mike Bars

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman October 22, 2013 1:59 pm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Fx_1anlzgk

Normally playful NW rapper Mike Bars, shows off his serious side in his latest song/video installment of his upcoming mixtape, ’16 Bars’. Using real cellphone clips from a past relationship to share his pain, Mike reminisces with lyrics like “now I look up at the stars and I get so drunk I can see sounds” over Frank Ocean’s ‘Thinking About You”. Although the song is a cover in it’s nature, with Bars mimicking Ocean’s falsetto, the song and the video
together attempt to shoot for something unique and heartfelt. With over 200 subscribers and nearly 75,000 cumulative YouTube views, this video is a strikingly different tone for the usually light-hearted Portland emcee. Mike has opened for the likes of Twista, members of Bone Thugs N Harmony, Mack 10, Three 6 Mafia, Glasses Malone, Yukmouth, Luni Coleone, and Spice 1.
