Tristan Eckerson’s Dance Craze

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman November 26, 2013 1:21 pm Tagged With: dance, Electro, Electronic, electronica

Dance Craze by Tristan Eckerson Tristan Eckerson has delivered the most intense 20 minutes of music I have experienced in quite some time.

Dance Craze is a 3 track journey through multiple genres of electronic music. This neck-breaking, body-moving, heart-pounding, uplifting, illuminating source of sound is guaranteed to make you do 1 thing… DANCE!

Tristan explains, “Having spent most of my life playing keyboards in bands and listening to all kinds of Dance Music, it wasn’t until after college that I really started to get into Electronic Music at all. Once I did, I got hooked, and then when I learned how to produce music electronically, it was all over for me.

Ever since then I’ve been on a mission to create Electronic Dance Music that’s full of energy and is danceable, but at the same time is filled with musicality. I want to create Electronic Dance Music that is accessible to people that don’t necessarily like EDM. There is so much “Dance Music” out there, created in different ways, from all over the world. I want to broaden the sense of what Electronic Dance Music really is, and incorporate more original ideas, influences, and emotions into my songs.”

Well… I’m not a fan of EDM but I love this!

Classically trained on piano, Eckerson grew up writing songs and playing pianos/keyboards in various bands spanning the genres of jazz, blues, funk, indie rock, punk, and pop.

His drive to explore all types of music contributes to the unique and refreshing soundscape created on Dance Craze.

Outside of music, Tristan has traveled many miles and been influenced by various areas of the planet including but not limited to, Spain, San Francisco, South Carolina, his hometown of Cincinnati, and now his habitat of Seattle.

Dance Craze is the fusion of top-notch musicality with technology to create a sweat-inducing, soul-awakening exploration through Afro, Latin, psychedelic, Moombathon, and all other areas of the electronic spectrum.

Another way of making my point…

Dance Craze, if expanded into an LP, could be EDM’s equivalent of classic rock’s Dark Side of the Moon. It is that epic.
