Wait + Hope = Mike Kinane’s Newest Offering

by Joshua (J.Smo) Smotherman December 11, 2014 1:57 pm Tagged With: Americana, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock

Wait+Hope by Mike Kinane I’ve got a special treat for fans who prefer their music of the rockin’ Ameri-Folk-grass persuasion.

If you dig Dylan, Tweedy, Seger, Ryan Adams or The Clash, Mike Kinane’s new album Wait + Hope is ready to become part of your collection.

From the Motor City but currently in Philadelphia, the raspy vocals and punk attitude of Mike Kinane are a breath of fresh air for the singer-songwriter category.

Of his upbringing in Detroit, Mike reflects,

There’s no better place to grow up for music as far as I’m concerned…It had a huge influence on my love of melody and strong backbeat. Iggy and the Stooges, Alice Cooper, Bob Seger –  I loved it all.

The album title was inspired by the ending quote of Monte Cristo, a book Mike was reading for the first time during Wait + Hope’s recording sessions. That inspiring quote goes like this,

All human knowledge can be contained in these two words: Wait and Hope.

Wait + Hope includes five songs of pure listening enjoyment. A seasoned multi-instrumentalist, Mike’s song crafting and arranging abilities are nothing short of fantastic.

After listening through the EP several times, I cannot pick a favorite. All five songs are strong enough to be singles yet go so well together you won’t be able to help yourself from listening again and again.

Mike’s stories are as engaging as his melodies. His transitions as smooth as butter. His music as good as it gets. Mike is a master of his craft and this EP proves it through and through.

Wait + Hope is now available so you should go grab a copy.
