Bonnaroo Featuring Okkervil River

by C Bret Campbell March 30, 2014 11:47 am

okkervil-river-silver-gymnasium

Here’s another hot new find on the Bonnaroo lineup for ya! Okkervil River from Austin will be gracing the stage with their unique synth/rock/pop-ish tunes. It’s not often this happens, but when I popped open their channel and started spinning tracks for a quick listen and write-up, I just completely forgot what I was doing […]

How about a Fanfare for Jonathan Wilson at Bonnaroo 2014

Jonathan-Wilson-YouTube-Clip-Fanfare

Hooked from the first minute. Scanning a bio full of talk about echoplexes and chickens and pianos while the record started might have had something to do with that, but so what? That kinda talk is right up my alley, there, the truth is out. Cruisin’ this year’s Bonnaroo lineup is leaving me wondering (once […]

Rudimental to light up Bonnaroo 2014

by C Bret Campbell March 24, 2014 8:41 am Tagged With: Bonnaroo

Well… you find some interesting stuff out there. Bonnaroo has become legendary for bringing interesting talent from all over. This year seems to be no exception to the rule as Rudimental have been announced on the lineup. To be honest, I was non-plussed when I couldn’t find a bio on their website and the detailed […]

I had the distinct pleasure of getting an to hear the new John Oates record a couple weeks early. We wrote about it here. Last Tuesday, Oates kicked off a rockin’ release party in Nashville. (from the press release by Kate Richardson) — Lead Single “Stone Cold Love” with Ryan Tedder  — March 18th, 2014, Nashville, […]

Pretty Lights artists Break Science are at it again for another year of livetronica touring. Now they are on their way to Bonnaroo. The Brooklyn duo has been packing the fans in all around the country and working their craft like madmen. It’s paid off and their new album kicks ass! Welcome back to Tennessee, […]

Real Estate at Bonnaroo

by C Bret Campbell March 21, 2014 7:48 am

The Bonnaroo lineup just keeps on coming up with fun new sounds! I’m diggin on Real Estate, today. Smooth sailing, rolling guitars and neat synth pads make them really easy to listen too. While they have a ton of music and more pictures than even Instagram can count, it’s been hard to find much about […]

Washed Out playing Bonnaroo 2014

Washed Out playing Bonnaroo 2014 SubPop says The music recorded by Ernest Greene as Washed Out has been nothing if not dreamy, and on his second full-length, Paracosm, he takes the dreamlike, otherworldly atmospheres of his music a huge leap further. https://www.subpop.com/releases/washed_out/paracosm Personally, I’m just getting acquainted with these “dreamy” sounds from Washed Out, and […]

Sarah Jarosz lined up for Sunday at Bonnaroo 2014

by C Bret Campbell March 19, 2014 7:55 am Tagged With: Bonnaroo

MG_7564-1024x682-sarah

Making beautiful music since she was just a youngster, Sarah Jarosz has matured into a deeper kind of artist in her latest release, “Build Me Up From Bones” (sugar Hill). Her voice is strong and hauntingly soothing over the ringing undulations of her guitar. She should make a great addition to the Sunday lineup at […]

Shovels & Rope at Bonnaroo – sounds like a Good Time

Hailing from Charelston, S.C. Shovels and Rope are Bonnaroo bound (oh, don’t hang me for that one) bringing some authentic stompin’ hillbilly folk to the summer’s biggest event in the middle of Tennessee. Shovels and Rope is a Charleston, SC band consisting of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. Formed in 2010, they sing harmony […]

White Denim return to Bonnaroo

Morphing from straight up Southern rock a’la 38 Special and Molly Hatchett to old-timey bluegrass to rock’n’roll jam band White Denim get down! They hail from Austin, home of SXSW and definitely give off the Southwestern laid back and solid kind of vibe. I was fortunate to catch a bit of their 2012 performance. Hopefully […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
