by Featured Guest September 18, 2015 3:44 pm Tagged With: electronica, Funk, Pop, Psychedelic

The Pinstripe Pigeon Band

The catchy Motown vibe of The Pinstripe Pigeon Band‘s music drew me in as the distinct musical elements held my attention. My first listen I was expecting a simple upbeat electronic pop tune and was pleasantly surprised as the musical layers continued to build into an intricate instrumental accompaniment, supporting and complimenting the vocals. The […]

Angeline-Back To Pike Place

After pouring through several demos to find the perfect artist for my inaugural blog I stumbled across Angéline’s Back to Pike Place. The natural sounds in the opening track, “Kohly,” immediately caught my attention, providing a peaceful introduction to her lead song, “Black Butterflies.” The catchy beat and rich supporting vocals had me grooving to […]

The Alpine Camp Translate Nature To Sound

The Alpine Camp

The Alpine Camp was simply a challenge to translate nature’s sounds into music without any fancy gadgetry or studio over-processing but has since turned into something of an obsession for this crew of energetic and creative musicians. We wanted to transmit the vibe of rock music through the medium typically used in folk, bluegrass and […]

As I am faced with all the emotions, thoughts, and memories that flood with his […]

Black_Hart

Be sure to go back and check my interview with Dark Empire’s Black_Hart!. Black_Hart!’s latest album Book of Marlon packs a powerful Hip Hop punch into a genre suffering from corporate degradation and constant attacks from media (typically rooted in ignorance or misconceptions). Refusing to release a song without some type of message, the 18 tracks found […]

Why have I NOT heard of S.J. Tucker before?!?! Or the genre of Mythpunk?!?! (Which is as awesome as Punkgrass.) Foam Ropes Indie Pop

Foam Ropes is an Indie Pop fantastic voyage through the master craftsmanship of one singer/songwriter Derek Nicoletto. Leaving his path in music to study acting, little did Derek know the universe would lead him full circle. His 9 song, self-titled debut is an aurally refreshing ode to the great solo songcrafters who have contributed to […]

As the collective attention span shrinks, Eddie Canyon finds himself searching for meaning within the noise. Reaching into and around his Arkansas roots, Eddie carves a distinctively southern Hip Hop undercurrent in his exploratory approach to music. Weaving tales of battling addiction, thoughts on spirituality, and irreverent social commentary into his lyrics, Eddie aims to intrigue his audience at the least, and at most, leave them with a liberating degree of thoughtfulness. In his own words: “The Matrix is real, but there’s a way out.” Support on Spotify or Bandcamp.
